Musically, Insomniac is a punk rock album that contains elements of alternative rock and pop punk. The album was commercially successful, placing second on the Billboard 200 chart and earning triple platinum from the Recording Industry Association of America. Critical reception of Insomniac has been mixed but mostly positive.
