The album was produced by MTV Unplugged producer Alex Coletti and Nirvana . The album was recorded in front of a live audience and featured acoustic versions of Nirvana 's songs. The album became a hit, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum five times by the Recording Industry Association of America.
