Full of energy like in the 70s: the only DVD with the complete VDGR concert in its original line-up. Almost two years before their reunion in 2005, the four musicians of Van Der Graaf Generator toyed with the idea of getting back together. When Peter Hammill suffered a heart attack at the end of 2003, he wasn't the only one with an urgent desire to actually take on the planned project. "We had a strong feeling that we weren't at the end of our journey yet," recalls David Jackson. The concert at the Leverkusen Jazz Festival, captured here, was to be the highlight of the reunion tour. "We knew that the concert would be professionally recorded and filmed, which hasn't happened often in the history of our band," says Jackson. "The concert in Leverkusen was basically at the end of our tour, so we were very well rehearsed and already felt very comfortable when we were on stage together again," recalls Hugh Banton. Guy Evans praises the intimate bond that was formed with the audience at this gig, which helped make the evening special for the band; not least because Peter Hammill was celebrating his 57th birthday.
