Fourth Gentle Giant album back on vinyl On the 50th anniversary of their debut album, Gentle Giant 2020 reissue their first four albums on vinyl: 'Gentle Giant' (1970), 'Acquiring The Taste' (1971), 'Three Friends' (1972) and 'Octopus' (1972). Originally released on December 1, 1972, it was the last album with founding member Phil Shulman and the first with drummer John Weathers, who remained part of the band until its breakup in 1980. The album has now been meticulously mixed by Steven Wilson with attention to detail, and the CD includes as a bonus Wilson's mix of a 15-minute live recording of "Excerpts from Octopus" from the 1976 tour. Famed artist and illustrator Roger Dean, who created the original album artwork, has contributed additional new sketches for this new version, and the original American cover art (an octopus in a jar of jam) by Charles White is also included.
