The Doors' big 50th anniversary singles collection, which they are celebrating this year, continues with three new collections focusing on all Doors singles released in the US, complete with A- and B-sides. For the first time, a comprehensive compilation of all The Doors singles is being released: 'The Singles' is available in several different formats: a 2-CD set: All 20 US singles with corresponding B-sides plus four tracks in mono radio versions 2-CD/Blu-ray set: The entire contents of the 2-CD version, plus the 1973 compilation "The Best Of The Doors" in quadraphonic sound for the first time on Blu-ray Disc 7" Vinyl Box Set: All 20 US singles with corresponding B-sides on twenty 7" vinyl singles (45 RPM) with corresponding original sleeve artwork and labels in an attractively designed box with hinged lid. This release is limited to 10,000 copies worldwide. "The Singles" compilation reveals the creative interplay shared between drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek and vocalist Jim Morrison that has made The Doors one of the most influential and legendary rock bands in North America. The collection includes single versions of songs from all six major studio albums the quartet released between 1967 and 1971. They include classics such as "People Are Strange," "Love Her Madly" and "Riders On The Storm." The CD also includes four radio versions of some of their biggest hits in mono, such as "Hello, I Love You" and "Touch Me", which have not been available since they were sampled by radio stations around the time of their regular release. The B-sides, many of which appear on CD for the first time, open up a new dimension to the band's legacy. For example, "Who Scared You" was released in March 1969 exclusively as a b-side to "Wishful Sinful" and a cover of Willie Dixon's "(You Need Meat) Don't Go Further" appeared on the back of the 1971 hit "Love Her Madly". "The Singles" also contains several songs that were released after Morrison's death in 1971. These include tracks recorded by surviving members of the Doors (e.g. "Tightrope Ride") as well as live recordings from posthumously released albums with Morrison ("Roadhouse Blues" and "Gloria"). The Blu-ray disc included with the extended version of "The Singles" presents a quadraphonic mix of the Doors' greatest hits album "The Best Of The Doors" in high definition. The 11-song compilation, which appears here for the first time on Blu-ray disc, was mixed in 1973 specifically for quadraphonic systems and offers a unique audio experience with tracks like "Soul Kitchen," "Moonlight Drive" and "Love Me Two Times." The absolute highlight of The Doors' big anniversary. P.S. Summer 2017 is a significant time and date for The Doors. The band is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first hit "Light My Fire" with the release of a 7" single with that title, limited to 7,500 copies and featuring the cover artwork of the Japanese version of the single.
