George Harrison

British rock guitarist and former Beatle

George Harrison was an English musician, singer-songwriter, and music and film producer who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Often referred to as "the quiet Beatle," Harrison embraced Indian culture and helped broaden the scope of popular music through his incorporation of Indian instrumentation and Hindu-aligned spirituality in the Beatles' work. After the band's disbandment in 1970, he had a successful solo career, releasing several acclaimed albums. His 1970 triple album, "All Things Must Pass," which included the hit single "My Sweet Lord," is widely considered his masterpiece and confirmed his status as a solo artist. Harrison's subsequent releases, such as "Living In The Material World" and "Dark Horse," further showcased his spiritual and humanitarian concerns, as well as his growth as a musician and composer. Beyond his solo career, Harrison organized the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, one of the first major charity concerts. He continued to be involved in music until his death in 2001, leaving behind a legacy that cemented him as one of the most respected and influential artists in the history of popular music.
