The Datsuns

New Zealand rock band

The Datsuns are a rock band from New Zealand, formed in Cambridge in 2000. Known for their energetic garage rock and heavy metal influences, the band consists of Dolf de Borst on vocals and bass, Christian Livingstone on guitar, Phil Somervell on guitar, and Ben Cole on drums. They gained international fame after the release of their self-titled debut album in 2002, which led to them winning the award for Best Album at the New Zealand Music Awards. The Datsuns continued to build their reputation with subsequent albums, touring extensively and performing at various music festivals around the world. Their sound is characterized by a revival of the hard rock and garage rock sound from the 1960s and 1970s, and they have been noted for contributing to the early 2000s garage rock revival alongside bands like The White Stripes and The Hives.
