The Band was a highly influential group in the landscape of rock music, known for their distinctive blend of rock, folk, country, and blues. The group originally formed as The Hawks, the backing band for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins, and later gained fame as Bob Dylan's backing band during his transition from folk to electric rock music. Comprised of members Rick Danko (bass guitar, vocals), Levon Helm (drums, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophone), Richard Manuel (piano, vocals), and Robbie Robertson (guitar, vocals), The Band's music was characterized by its earthy instrumentation and soulful harmonies.
