Influential Motown Producer and Songwriter

Norman Whitfield was a prolific American songwriter and producer, best known for his work with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s. He played a significant role in shaping the sound of Motown with his innovative production techniques and his development of what came to be known as "psychedelic soul." Whitfield often collaborated with lyricist Barrett Strong, and together they crafted hits for various artists, including the Temptations, for whom he produced landmark songs like "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" and "Cloud Nine."
