Czech Baroque Ensemble

Musica Florea is a Czech ensemble specializing in the performance of Baroque and Classical music on period instruments. Founded in 1992 by cellist and conductor Marek Štryncl, the group has established itself as one of the leading Czech ensembles in the field of historically informed performance. Musica Florea's repertoire spans from early Baroque to the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, with a particular focus on Czech composers. They have made numerous recordings, including interpretations of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos and Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World," showcasing their commitment to both fidelity to historical performance practice and a fresh approach to well-known works. The ensemble is also known for its educational activities, including workshops and lectures aimed at promoting the understanding and appreciation of early music.
