While the original album highlighted Daptone's unique mission, "Daptone Gold Vol. 2" shows just how far Daptone has come. The collection is filled with favorites from the past six years and singles that sold out in advance or were previously only available as a 45. The release is also the result of Dapton's Super Soul Revue last year. The concert series, which featured all Dapton artists performing together, culminated in three sold-out shows at the world-famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. The new double album keeps fans of the Brooklyn-based label in suspense. A label that has become a major reference point for new soul music and a model for independent labels around the world. Featuring some of the most popular tracks ever released by Daptone. For example: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings - "Better Things" (from 2010's "I Learned The Hard Way"), "Inspiration Information" (a cover of Shuggie Otis' "Soul Time") and "Retreat!" from their latest album "Give The People What They Want". In addition, there are other favorites such as: Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens' 2014 track "Sinner"; Charles Bradley's "Strictly Reserved For You" and "Heartaches & Pain"; "Hot Shot" by 2015 newcomers Saun & Starr; "Dirty Money" by Afrobeat group Antibalas and "Got To Get Back To My Baby" by The Sugarman 3, among many others.
