Thirty years ago, the immense success of The Joshua Tree transformed U2 into the most important band on the planet."- Rolling Stone, January 2017On the thirtieth anniversary of the release of U2's fifth studio album, The Joshua Tree, an anniversary edition of this seminal album is being released on June 2, 2017 on Island Records.In addition to the eleven-track album, the super deluxe collector's edition will include a live recording of The Joshua Tree Tour's 1987 concert at Madison Square Garden; rarities and B-sides from the album's original recording sessions; as well as 2017 remixes by artists such as Daniel Lanois, St. Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Steve Lillywhite and Flood; plus an 84-page bound book of never-before-seen personal photographs taken by The Edge during the original photo session in the Mojave Desert in 1986.The album was released to universal acclaim on March 9, 1987 and featured the hit singles "With Or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Where The Streets Have No Name", The Joshua Tree went #1 in the UK, US, Ireland and worldwide, selling over 25 million in total and the album catapulted the quartet of musicians - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr "...from heroes to superstars" (Rolling Stone). Time Magazine dedicated its April 1987 cover to U2, declaring them "Rock's Hottest Ticket" and over the next 12 months U2 created many iconic moments in music history, including the Grammy Award-winning video for "Where The Streets Have No Name" on the roof of a Los Angeles liquor store, the filming of which brought traffic to a standstill in the city, winning a BRIT Award and winning two Grammys - including Album of the Year - their first of 22 Grammys to date, as well as a triumphant homecoming with four unforgettable concerts in Belfast, Dublin and Cork in the summer of 1987.The Joshua Tree was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
