The Common Linnets from the Netherlands won second place in this year's prize. Eurovision. Their album "The Common Linnets" was among the top 50 best sellers in eight European countries and their single "Calm After The Storms" scored in fourteen countries including Australia, eleven of them with top ten placements. Don't let Eurovision put you off though, a number two song like this doesn't seem to belong there at all. Anyone expecting some kind of danceable Europop, so typical of this contest, would be sorely mistaken. The album contains great songs with country, bluegrass, pop and folk-rock elements and you can definitely hear the influence of bands like Mumford & Sons or Lumineers.
