Luke Hemmings is the lead singer of 5 Seconds of Summer, which has reached #1 on the OCC, ARIA and Billboard charts and won ARIA, AMA and Billboard awards. This debut solo album represents a special journey for Luke. After a forced hiatus in 2020, "When Facing The Things We Turn Away From" is the first album where Luke has put all of his creative energy and passion for songwriting into a solo album. "I've loved writing songs my whole life," he says. "I'm constantly improving in that area. My whole world revolves around music. Writing these lyrics has taught me something about myself. A lot of the songs are contemporary, but some are written from the perspective of a 17-year-old kid in the middle of the business. These perspectives collide on the album. It was a challenge to make it on my own. With Vibe, of course, it became a standalone entity, but it also coexists with 5 Seconds Of Summer as another part of me." Luke collaborated on the album with Grammy® Award®-winning producer and songwriter Sammy Witt (King Princess, Maggie Rogers, Harry Styles) and the album features influences as diverse as War On Drugs, Bon Iver, M83, Pink Floyd, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Neil Young.
