"Opus Dei" is an album by the Slovenian avant-garde music group Laibach, released in 1987. The album marked a significant shift in the band's sound, incorporating more melodic and accessible elements compared to their earlier industrial style. It includes one of Laibach's most famous covers, "Life is Life," which is a reworking of the song "Leben Heißt Leben" by the Austrian band Opus. The album also features a militaristic and bombastic cover of Queen's "One Vision," translated into German and retitled "Geburt einer Nation" (Birth of a Nation). The themes in "Opus Dei" continue Laibach's exploration of totalitarianism, nationalism, and the use of propaganda through their music and visual presentation.
