Formed in 1984 in Essen, Kreator is arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band of all time. Like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused the thrash innovations of Metallica with the proto-black metal imagery of Venom. They are often credited with pioneering death metal and black metal, incorporating several elements into their music that would later become defining features of those genres. The band has sold over two million copies of all of their albums worldwide, making them one of the most successful German thrash metal bands of all time. The band's style has changed several times over the years. From a speed metal sound inspired by Venom, to thrash metal, to a period in the 90s when they moved from thrash metal to industrial metal and gothic metal. In the early 2000's Kreator returned to their classic thrash sound, which they have remained true to to this day. Their last studio album "Gods Of Violence" reached the top twenty in ten countries and even reached number one in Germany. The entire Kreator Noise Records discography is celebrated with the album "Under The Guillotine".
