Defiantly breaking with established principles as usual - from flying their own plane around the world on a record-breaking tour to selling more than 70 million albums worldwide without any support from mainstream radio or television - Iron Maiden today announced the release of a new greatest hits CD. Due to the huge success of the current "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 08" and the recent #1 chart-topping DVD "Live After Death", EMI Music is releasing a special album on May 9th documenting the first decade of the band's incredible career. The album celebrates the highlights of the current tour and features key tracks from the first seven studio albums and a live album recorded between 1980 and 1989, and is aptly titled 'Somewhere Back In Time'. Manager Rod Smallwood explains the background to the creation of this new greatest hits collection, "Maiden have a huge catalogue that is held in high regard by fans and media alike. On the other hand, we realised that the ever-growing fan base is very young and cannot be expected to know all the previous albums. That's why we put together this collection for them. Many of our fans weren't even born when the original albums were released - and strangely enough, they seem to know all the lyrics when they sing along with the band at our shows!" All of metal Germany is eagerly awaiting Iron Maiden's only live performance at this year's Wacken Festival... and rightly so. It's going to be a huge party!
