Václav Hybš has been a legend of Czechoslovak popular music since the 1960s.

When selecting his repertoire, Václav Hybš has always focused on compositions that were and still are popular with a wide audience. Their success was also due to their perfect, attractive and witty instrumentation, avoiding innovative experiments. "When choosing what to play, I am guided by feeling", said Václav Hybš years ago. "There are boundaries that cannot be crossed in order not to lose our listeners. I refuse to interpret contrived, even artistically interesting matters that we would end up playing only for ourselves. I submit to the demands of the listeners. And that it is not a useless job, the response of the audience convinces us of that".

Václav Hybš has collaborated with perhaps all of our popular music singers. "My aim has always been to invent something for them that they have never sung before. To surprise them and at the same time get them excited about my idea", Hybš confided. He has also had extraordinary success with singers of so-called classical music who have achieved world renown, such as Eva Urbanová, Peter Dvorský and Štefan Margita.

The latest selection presents Václav Hybš in a slightly different light - with melodies and songs that belong only to the greatest voices of popular and classical music. Thus, Karel Gott, Waldemar Matuška, Helena Vondráčková, Lucie Bílá, Věra Špinarová and others cannot be missing.
