After its predecessor, 2018's Grammy-nominated Best Rock Album "PREQUELLE", was set in the 14th century and during a European plague pandemic, on "IMPERA" GHOST catapults themselves literally hundreds of years forward in time. The result is the most ambitious and lyrically succinct work in the Ghost album canon: over the course of the twelve-song "IMPERA" cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs engage in their (equally monetarily and spiritually motivated) hymnic rants and prophecies, while the vault of heaven fills with celestial bodies both divine and artificial.

Ghost's most thematic album to date plays out against a hypnotic, darkly colored melodic backdrop, making "IMPERA" a unique listening experience.
