Garbage rock - once and now Shirley Manson, Duke Erikson, Butch Vig and Steve Marker aka Garbage have been making music together for more than 20 years - and with great success: all five albums by this American-Scottish rock band have reached the top ten in the UK and the band is a welcome presence in the charts. The best prerequisites for "Strange Little Birds" - the new, sixth Garbage album (2016). The musicians took their time on it. The previous album "Not Your Kind Of People" was released four years ago. However, Garbage started writing songs for "Strange Little Birds" right afterwards, in early 2013. During this phase, more than 20 songs were written, eleven of which eventually made it to the final recording session at Red Razor Sounds Studio in Los Angeles. Fans of garbage from the first hour have reason to rejoice. According to singer Shirley Manson, the new album bears a strong resemblance to her first album - more so than any of the band's other work. It seems the singer is right. "Empty", the first single, shows that it still sounds fresh and new. Even though Garbage is almost part of the old iron of alternative rock music, their own sound worked then and now. "Strange Little Birds" is proof of that.
