David Bowie : Legacy is a compilation album by English singer David Bowie , released on 11 November 2016 by Sony Music. The album contains songs from throughout Bowie's career, from his first album in 1967 to his last album Blackstar (2016), which was released two days before his death. Released in two editions: a 2-CD and a 4-LP set, the album was well received by music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standardized rating out of 100 to mainstream critics' reviews, the album received an average score of 85 out of 15 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim": "The album is great: "There's something for everyone on Legacy, from the first singles to the latest album, Blackstar. It's an immensely satisfying listen that not only provides a comprehensive overview of Bowie's career, but also highlights just how innovative and influential he was during his five decades in the spotlight." The Guardian's Alexis Petridis awarded the album four stars out of five, saying, "Bowie's career is very varied: the compilation is expertly put together, with each era of Bowie's career given its due attention.
