The album Folk Swings, is the result of a unique project of the B-Side Band and producer Josef Buchta with legends of the Czech folk scene and pop personalities.The album offers legendary original songs in swing arrangements by Ewa Farna, Vojtěch Dyk, Petr Rybíz Toman and others, as well as new versions of songs by deceased composers. Fans can look forward to performances by Vlasta Redl, Jarek Nohavica, Jaroslav Samson Lenko, Radek Pastrňák, Slávek Janoušek, Pokáč and others.The project will close with two concerts in Brno on 1 and 2 December at the SONO centre. The organiser is the BUJOART agency and tickets are on sale here.The project Folk Swings is the brainchild of Josef Buchta, the producer of the album and bandleader of the B-Side Band, who admits that together with the arranger and pianist Petr Kovařík he has had the idea of the project in his head for 12 years. "A big inspiration for us was undoubtedly Paul Anka's Rock Swings, which in my opinion is a real musical gem. But getting all the musicians together seemed absolutely impossible for several years. Until the unpleasant coronal crisis came, which gave everyone time and finally space to realise old unfulfilled visions, wishes and dreams," says Josef Buchta.The first swallow of the record was a song by Zuzana Navarová and the band Nerez called Kočky (Cats) in a new fresh arrangement by Petr Kovařík, which was performed by Ewa Farna and Vojtěch Dyk. The combination of Ewa Farna and the B-Side Band proved to be brilliant not only for the ear but also for the eye of the fan. The great energy and mood left its mark throughout the song, which is confirmed by both artists praising each other's collaboration and the video's hit with the audience. "Vojta is an incredible singer, he controls his voice in an incredible way. So when I got an offer from the B-Side Band to sing with so many musicians and Vojta to go with it, I was honoured," comments Ewa Farna, while Vojtech Dyk joins in, saying that "there aren't many female singers in the Czech Republic who would honour the spirit of the song and add something 'just their own', gushing out of themselves.I can only thank for this meeting with Ewa, Zuzana, Vít and actually the whole of Nerez, which I admire so much," says Vojtěch Dyk.The second single from the album is Pokáč's sympathetic pun "What Will You Be", whose new arrangement has added an impressive seriousness.
