DO NOT USE AS A LABEL. Legal name: Universal-Island Records Limited UK based record company associated with the Island Records label. Operating from the 29th Mar 1999 until 25th Jun 2014. The company was formed following the acquisition of Polygram N.V. (the former owner of Island Records Ltd.) on the 10th Dec 1998 by "The Seagram Company Ltd." whom already owned the Universal Music Group. On the 29th March 1999 Island Records Ltd. was renamed Universal-Island Records Ltd. Subsequently on the 25th Jun 2014 Universal-Island Records Ltd., was renamed back to its original name "Island Records Ltd."
