Genlyd

The Danish label Genlyd was founded as an indie label in 1974 by the band Gnags.The company is Genlyd Grammofon At first the label only released The band's own releases but as the groups recording studio Feedback Recording, based in Denmarks second largest city Aarhus, became more and more equipped and popular, Feedback and Genlyd peaked in the mid 80's and became a catalysator for a golden era, giving Aarhus both a new breed of artist and a recognizable sound influenced by the reggae-producers Jack Nuber and Karl Pitterson, that produced for Gnags. In that era, besides Gnags, new breeds like Thomas Helmig, Mek Pek Party Band, Det Neodepressionistiske Danseorkester and Voxpop recorded for the label as did veterans like Henning Stærk and Lars Muhl. From 1989 the label was division of BMG Ariola A/S, and from 1995 to 2004 of BMG Denmark. Then from 2004 it was a division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment Denmark A/S, but since 2008 it is owned by Sony Music Entertainment Denmark A/S.
