Australian alternative rock band

Silverchair was an Australian rock band formed in 1992 by lead vocalist and guitarist Daniel Johns, bassist Chris Joannou, and drummer Ben Gillies. The band emerged onto the international music scene in the mid-1990s with their debut album "Frogstomp" (1995), which they recorded when they were only 15 years old. The album's success was propelled by the hit single "Tomorrow," which topped the Australian charts and gained significant airplay in the United States. Following their initial success, Silverchair continued to evolve their sound with subsequent albums such as "Freak Show" (1997), featuring the single "Freak," and "Neon Ballroom" (1999), which showcased a more mature and diverse musical direction. Throughout their career, Silverchair received numerous accolades and maintained a strong fan base until their indefinite hiatus in 2011. Their discography includes a total of five studio albums, from which they garnered multiple ARIA Awards and achieved multi-platinum sales in Australia.
