Tuvan Throat Singer and Experimental Artist

Sainkho Namtchylak is a Tuvan-born singer and musician known for her unique vocal techniques and diverse musical styles that blend Tuvan throat singing with elements of jazz, electronic music, and avant-garde experimentation. Born in 1957 in a small village in Tuva, she was trained in both traditional Tuvan music and Russian classical music. Sainkho's voice is capable of spanning seven octaves and she often incorporates khoomei, a style of throat singing traditional to her native Tuva, into her work.
