Rita Lee

Brazilian rock singer-songwriter

Brazilian band Os Mutantes founder with Arnaldo Baptista and Sergio Dias in 1966. The band released five albums between 1968 and 1972. In that time, Lee had also released her first two solo works, although these records were produced with fellow members of Os Mutantes. In 1973 she played briefly with Lucia Turnbull as Cilibrinas Do Éden, although there are no know recordings by the duo they did play on the Phono 73 Festival. Between 1974 and 1978 she released four albums with the backing band Tutti Frutti (3). From 1979 on she released a string of albums credited to herself or as the duo Rita Lee & Roberto with her husband Roberto De Carvalho. She retired from live shows and studio recordings after the release of the album Reza in 2012.
