Peter Oundjian is a renowned conductor and violinist with a distinguished career in the world of classical music. Born on December 7, 1955, in Toronto, Canada, he first gained prominence as a violinist, becoming the first violinist of the Tokyo String Quartet in 1981. Oundjian held this position for 14 years until a repetitive strain injury curtailed his playing career. He then shifted his focus to conducting, which led to his appointment as the Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) in 2004, a position he held until the 2017-2018 season.
