Mary Hopkin

Welsh folk-pop singer

Mary Hopkin is a Welsh folk singer who gained fame in the late 1960s. She was one of the first musicians to sign to The Beatles' Apple Records label after being discovered by model Twiggy. Hopkin's debut single, "Those Were the Days," produced by Paul McCartney, was released in 1968 and became a global hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100. Her debut album, "Post Card," also produced by McCartney, followed in 1969 and featured a mix of traditional songs and contemporary covers.
