Makthaverskan

Makthaverskan

Swedish post-punk band

Makthaverskan is a post-punk band hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, known for their ethereal sound that blends elements of punk, pop, and indie rock. The band was formed in 2008 and has since carved out a niche in the indie music scene with their emotionally charged lyrics and dreamy soundscapes. Their name, which roughly translates to "the female ruler" in Swedish, hints at the feminist undertones present in some of their work. Makthaverskan gained international attention with the release of their second album, "Makthaverskan II," in 2013. The album's single "No Mercy" and its refrain "Fuck you for fucking me when I was seventeen" became a rallying cry for their growing fan base, showcasing the band's raw lyrical content and driving melodies. Following the success of "Makthaverskan II," they released subsequent albums such as "Ill" in 2017, which continued to build on their signature sound and lyrical intensity. The band's lineup has included Maja Milner on vocals, with Hugo Randulv and Irma Pussila Krook on guitar, amongst other members contributing to the rhythm section over the years. Makthaverskan's music often explores themes of love, loss, and frustration set against the backdrop of their distinctive jangly guitar work and post-punk aesthetics.
