La Roux is a British synth-pop act formed in 2008, originally a duo consisting of singer Eleanor "Elly" Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. They gained prominence with their self-titled debut album "La Roux" in 2009, which featured hits such as "Bulletproof" and "In for the Kill." The album was both a critical and commercial success, earning a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2011. Following the debut, La Roux became a solo project for Jackson after she and Langmaid parted ways during the making of their second album. "Trouble in Paradise," released in 2014, showcased a shift in sound towards a more funk and disco-influenced style. The third album, "Supervision," came out in 2020, further solidifying La Roux's place in the modern pop landscape with its independent production and release. Throughout her career, Elly Jackson has been known for her distinctive falsetto voice, unique fashion sense, and the incorporation of 1980s synth-pop influences into her music.
