Joe Lally is an American musician best known as the bassist for the influential post-hardcore band Fugazi, which was active from 1987 until their indefinite hiatus in 2003. After Fugazi entered its hiatus, Lally pursued a solo career and released several albums. His solo work includes "There to Here" (2006), "Nothing Is Underrated" (2007), and "Why Should I Get Used To It" (2011). These albums showcase Lally's distinctive approach to bass playing and his exploration into more melodic and subdued territory compared to the often intense and dynamic sound of Fugazi. In addition to his solo work, Joe Lally has collaborated with various musicians and has been involved in other musical projects, continuing to contribute to the independent music scene.
