Polish Classical Conductor and Composer

Jerzy Maksymiuk is a distinguished Polish conductor, composer, and pianist, renowned for his versatility and breadth of repertoire. Born on April 9, 1936, in Grodno, Poland (now in Belarus), he initially trained as a pianist at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw before turning his attention to conducting. Maksymiuk's career took a significant leap forward when he won the prestigious Herbert von Karajan Conducting Competition in Berlin in 1977.
