Austrian Classical Composer

Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer who lived from 1797 to 1828. He is widely considered one of the leading figures of the early Romantic era in music and despite his short life, he was remarkably prolific. Schubert's output includes over six hundred secular vocal works (mainly Lieder), seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music, and a large body of chamber and piano music. His most famous compositions include the "Unfinished Symphony" (Symphony No. 8), the "Great" Symphony No. 9, the song cycle "Winterreise" D.911, and the piano quintet "The Trout." Although he was not widely recognized during his lifetime and lived in relative poverty, Schubert's work gained posthumous recognition. Today, he is hailed as a master of the art song and for his significant contribution to classical music. His music is notable for its emotional depth, memorable melodies, and rich harmonies.
