Bahamian Folk Music Artist

Exuma, whose real name was Macfarlane Gregory Anthony Mackey, was a Bahamian musician, artist, and composer known for his unique and rich fusion of Caribbean folk music, calypso, reggae, and African rhythms. His music often incorporated elements of Bahamian Junkanoo music along with narratives and themes that drew on Afro-Caribbean culture and mythology. Born on February 18, 1942, in Nassau, Bahamas, Exuma moved to New York City during the 1960s where he became a part of the folk music scene.
