The English Concert is a renowned baroque orchestra specializing in the performance of music from the 17th and 18th centuries on period instruments. Founded in 1972 by harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock, the ensemble quickly established itself as one of the leading exponents of historically informed performance, a movement that seeks to recreate the sound-worlds that would have been familiar to composers of the time.
