Louisiana Sludge Metal Band

Acid Bath was an American sludge metal band from Houma, Louisiana, active from 1991 to 1997. The band was known for their unique blend of heavy metal with elements of grunge, death metal, and doom metal, as well as for their dark and controversial lyrics. Acid Bath's lineup consisted of vocalist Dax Riggs, guitarist Sammy Pierre Duet, bassist Audie Pitre, guitarist Mike Sanchez, and drummer Jimmy Kyle. They gained a cult following with the release of their debut album "When The Kite String Pops" in 1994, which featured artwork by notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Their second album "Paegan Terrorism Tactics" followed in 1996 and further cemented their place in the underground metal scene. Tragically, the band's career was cut short by the death of bassist Audie Pitre in a car accident in January 1997. Following Pitre's death, Acid Bath disbanded. Despite their relatively short career and limited discography, Acid Bath has continued to influence many artists within the sludge and metal genres.
