His debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, "Piano Works", is one of Ólafsson's many creative projects and a promising start to his collaboration with the label. On the occasion of composer Philip Glass' 80th birthday, Ólafsson presents a selection of his solo piano etudes. "Music is a place that is as real as any place you've ever been," said Philip Glass. With his own music, he was able to free up space and time and allow new dimensions to be experienced. Hardly anyone would have realised this more intensely than Víkingur Ólafsson, the subtle keyboard poet from the North.
