O "1984" není třeba mnoho říkat, prostě typický Van Halen. Žádný propadák, ale zato spousta vrcholů. Párty, život je divoká, nikdy nekončící párty. To je poselství této hardrockové desky, které v hollywoodském stylu předává frontman David Lee Roth jako sukničkář "California Girls". Machistický přístup se na této desce skutečně projevuje. Hra pohlaví je zábava, o tom je život. Nadčasová klasika od prvních zvuků syntezátoru až po poslední akord kytary nebo virblu, na této desce je všeho tak akorát.

Party, life is a wild, never-ending party. That's the message of this hard rock record, which frontman David Lee Roth translates into Hollywood style as the womanizer of "California Girls". There's a macho attitude on this record. The gender play is fun, it creates life. Timeless classics, from the first sounds of a synthesizer to the last chord of a guitar or a snare drum, there's just enough of everything on this record.
