Twenty One Pilots : Blurryface is the second studio album by American music duo Twenty One Pilots , released on May 17, 2015 via Fueled by Ramen. The album was produced by Mike Elizondo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. The album's lyrical themes are based on the idea of Blurryface, a character created by Tyler Joseph to represent his fear of success. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. It sold 147,000 units in its first week, 134,000 of which were pure album sales. It was the band's first album to reach the top of the chart. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on August 18, 2016, and has sold 1.5 million copies in the United States as of January 2019. The album's lead single, the track "Tear in My Heart", was released on March 17, 2015. The second single from the album, "Stressed Out", was released on April 28, 2015. The third single from the album, "Ride", was released on July 8, 2015. The fourth single from the album, "Heathens", was released on September 28, 2016.
