Despite the band's short history, the Velvet Underground is one of the most legendary and influential bands in music history. When the great experiment with pop began in the mid and late 1960s, and with it the explosive rise of many bands trying to make it in the music business, it was the Velvet Underground who showed an outrageous courage to be avant-garde with energetic rock and provocative lyrics. And although their success didn't translate into sales numbers, their way of making music was just too distinctive. The Best Of contains 18 of their greatest hits, making it the first and only definitive collection to include the best of both the Universal and Atlantic label eras. It includes White Light / White Heat, What Goes On, Venus And Furs, Sweet Jane, Some Kinda Love and many more.
