Jennings, Nelson, Cash and Kristofferson Live They were the first and by far the most famous country supergroup of all time: Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson aka The Highwaymen. The band lasted only ten years, during which time they released three albums and toured the US, Europe and Australia. The album "The Highwaymen Live - American Outlaws" is now a testament to their live qualities. This is a much more comprehensive concert package as the set includes three CDs in total as well as a DVD and Blu-ray disc. Two of the three CDs contain footage of their concert in Long Island, New York, USA. The Highwaymen played a legendary concert there on March 14, 1990 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. They played at least 35 songs that night, including hits like "Highwayman" and "Silver Stallion", Guy Clark's "Desperados Waiting For A Train" and the Johnny Cash classic "Big River". The DVD or Blu-ray "The Highwaymen Live - American Outlaws" features the first-ever film footage of the concert set. The third CD contains rare live recordings of the supergroup, taken at various Farm Aid festivals. The final track on the CD is a recording of "One Too Many Mornings" - an alternate version of the Bob Dylan song. It was originally taken from the album "Heroes" by Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. The version on the album "The Highwaymen Live - American Outlaws" with additional vocals by Kris Kristofferson and Willy Nelson is from 2014. The production of "The Highwaymen Live - American Outlaws" was handled by longtime friend of Willie Nelson, Mickey Raphael. He used only the original recordings for the reworking. The film footage was also digitized using the original film reels. Writer and music journalist Mikal Gilmore also wrote some interesting notes, which can be found in the set's booklet. "The Highwaymen Live - American Outlaws" presents four of the greatest country musicians of all time together on one stage.
