Explorations, nahrané 2. února 1961, bylo čtvrtým LP Billa Evanse jako lídra a druhým studiovým albem pianistova legendárního tria se Scottem LaFarou a Paulem Motianem. Jejich první společnou nahrávkou bylo studiové album Portrait in Jazz, natočené 28. prosince 1959, které znamenalo Evansovo třetí album jako lídra po albech New Jazz Conceptions (1956) a Everybody Digs Bill Evans (1958). Vrcholu dosáhlo trio Evans-LaFaro-Motian při klubovém nahrávání 25. června 1961 ve Village Vanguard v New Yorku. LaFaro zemřel při autonehodě o pouhých deset dní později, ve věku 25 let. Jako bonus je zde přidáno šest skladeb z alba Portrait in Jazz (se stejným triem).

Album valt binnen het genre Jazz, Contemporary Jazz, Modal en Post Bop. 180g + 1 Bonustrack Vinyl Limited Edition.
