For more than a decade and almost every Christmas, Sufjan Stevens recorded a Christmas album to give away to friends and family. Recording always took place one week in December, usually at home, which led to collaborations with friends, roommates and musical colleagues. In 2006, Stevens' label, Asthmatic Kitty Records, released the CD boxset "Songs for Christmas", which contains the first five of these albums, "Volumes I - V". In 2012, the label released "Silver & Gold", a boxset on CD and vinyl containing "Volumes VI-X". However, the first five albums were never released on vinyl. This year, Asthmatic Kitty Records is finally releasing "Songs for Christmas: Volumes I - V" as a 5xLP vinyl boxset. The box set includes fan favorites like "Sister Winter", "That Was The Worst Christmas Ever", "Only At Christmas Time" and "Put The Lights on the Tree".
