Black Gold" also features a version of Sandy Denny's "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" in a minimal arrangement, resulting in a spectacular orchestration that is tailor-made for the song and the singer. While Simone maintains a sometimes goofy, sometimes majestically distant demeanor throughout the performance, she increasingly draws the audience to her side during the interlude monologues.
