The album is a collection of 15 tracks that are heavily influenced by Madonna's life in Lisbon, Portugal and her long-standing relationship with Latin American music and culture. "My record was born in Lisbon," Madonna explains of the recording process. "I found my tribe there and a magical world of amazing musicians who renewed my belief that music across the world is strongly connected and that it is the soul of the universe." The production of the album, on which Madonna sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese, was handled by Madonna's longtime collaborator Mirwais, as well as Mike Dean, who has worked with Kanye West, Travis Scott and 2Pac, among others, and last but not least Diplo. Madonna, full name Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie, has been written into the pages of our cultural history as a sex symbol of the 80s, a fashion icon, the queen of modern music and tabloids, and above all as the most successful female artist of all time, which even earned her an official entry into the Guinness Book of World Records. During her career, she released 57 hits that made the Top 100 charts, an incredible 38 of which made the Top 10, something no artist has ever managed - not even the legendary Beatles, who only have 34 Top 10 hits. Madonna's biggest hits include Like A Virgin, La Isla Bonita, Material Girl and Like A Prayer. La Isla Bonita, by the way, was the first song in Madonna's oeuvre to incorporate elements of Latin American music and was originally offered to Michael Jackson, who (apparently) turned it down.
