Lyrika - CD

Reflections of contemporary r'n'b, sensitively arranged melodies and a distinctive, often surprisingly realistic poetics are mirrored on the rapper Lip's new album. He releases his new album Lyrika four years after his previous release O duši. On it, he leans more on the musician side and emphasizes the content integrity of his lyrics.

"Four years is a long time in the genre I came from. But today I feel that the certain distance I have gained from the songs during the making of the record has only helped them. Because all the stories I write about are lived-in," says Lipo.

The new album Lyrika was produced by the multi-talented Ondřej Turták, aka ODD, who has a background in contemporary hip hop and r'n'b, and plays several live instruments. Lipo also praises the fact that the friendship between the two Liberec artists, which has been in place for many years, allowed them to work intensively as a close team on the album.

The central motif of the eleven new songs is the search for personal freedom, which is closely related to interpersonal relationships. "Some people say that writing about love is a cliché, I, on the other hand, think it's a topic that is far from exhausted and hardly ever will be. It touches all of us and accompanies us in some form throughout our lives," the rapper explains.

Emotional affection takes many forms in his performance, it can be searing and rawly realistic, but also euphoric and boundless, as well as numb and driven by instinct. Lipo's lyrics draw on his warm relationship with poetry, but he is also unafraid to give each state its true name and go to the core in his exploration of it. All this creates his original manuscript - his Lyric.

He has invited many guests from the ranks of talented musicians for the album. In the hit single Svoboda (Freedom), the charismatic rasp of singer Marcello from the indie rock band No Distance Paradise sounds, in Štěstí (Happiness) he successfully dusted off his collaboration with current Angel winner Debbi, and the energy of Vidíš, co jiní nevidí (You See What Others Don't See) is captured by ODD's rich voice. One of the most surprising moments is the song Skleněný království (Glass Kingdom), where Lipo himself sang the chorus. Jiri Vidasov (Dan Bárta or Top Dream Company) plays the piano in the final song Solitaire, while the guitar line in the rap-heated song Mimikry was provided by a rising star - singer Robin Mood.

"I have been on the scene for over ten years. The older I get, the more responsibility I feel for every song I put out. You have to justify everything to yourself. Whoever wants to know what has been going on in my life for the last four years will find it all on Lyrika," Lipo sums up.
