With Piano Book, Lang Lang releases his first solo album in three years and reflects on his roots: "Piano Book is about my first love - my love of music. The songs on this album are the reason why I wanted to become a pianist." Piano Book contains classic works of piano literature that everyone knows: Beethoven's Für Elise, Bach's Prelude from The Well-Tempered Clavier, and Debussy's Clair de lune, for example. Lang Lang complements them with contemporary pieces, Ryuichi Sakamoto's Merry Christmas, Max Richter's Departure or Yann Tiersen's Valse d'Amélie, music from film and television. These are works that he encounters repeatedly in his work with students and which have become his favourites. In Piano Book, Lang Lang reflects on his own musical journey. Anyone can follow him, whether they are a piano lover, teacher or student. The limited deluxe edition also includes a bonus CD with well-known traditional pieces from various countries, such as Lima, limu, lima from Sweden and Jasmine Flower from China.
