The Nightwatch, recorded at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in November 1973, is one of KC's most acclaimed live recordings. The recording was broadcast by the BBC at the time, so the concert was available on many bootleg titles, and as Robert Fripp has written, they all had the same lo-fi and high-price problems. When DGM began releasing live recordings from the archive in 1990, this concert was high on the list of recordings to be edited. At the time of the concert, the band had been on tour for seven of the eleven months. In February, drummer Jamie Muir left the band, but with two European and one American tour during the year, the quartet was building a legacy as one of the best touring bands of its time. The material presented here features songs from the CD "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" released in April 1973 and some of the recordings became the basis for the 1974 album "Starless and Bible Black".
