Product Information In 1960, the hugely innovative Coltrane took some giant steps of his own - this was the first recording of an all-Trane original set that achieved the stunning emotional intensity for which his live work was renowned. Giant Steps - the first album that iconic saxophonist John Coltrane recorded for Atlantic Records - continues to amaze listeners even 60 years after its release. Since its release, it has been chronicled in the music annals, was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame in 2011, and went gold in 2018. To properly celebrate the sixth anniversary of this seminal classic, the Rhino label has now remastered all 28 remaining recordings for two new editions. Giant Steps: 60th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will now be released as a 180-gram double LP and double CD. Both editions will include a remastered version of the original album and eight additional alternate takes. The album will also be released in packaging that replicates the original packaging and labels of the first release. Both sets will also include a booklet with previously unpublished photographs from Coltrane's time at Atlantic Records, original liner notes and new liner notes by music historian and Grammy® winner Ashley Kahn.
